Shirah Skates
We discovered LA based roller skater, Shirah Skates, skating around our Instagram feeds and we needed to know more! We put our foot in and gained some insight into her 4 wheel lifestyle by speaking to her about all things skating, body positivity and community.
She styles up our Sideways Glance Beret, Feel It In My Bones Knit Dress and Face It Jumpsuit.

Hey Shira, how are you doing?
Hi Lazy Oaf! I’m doing spectacular! `
What inspired you to learn how to skate?
Before skating, I was getting no exercise at all, and it took a toll on my health. I decided I needed to do something about it. A friend recommended skating because it is easy on the joints and fun! Since then, I’ve been hooked!
When did you start skating and how long did it take you to get to a confident level?
I started skating in May 2019. I’d say it took about a year to get to a confident level. It was a very slow process.
What is it that you love the most about skating and how it makes you feel?
I love the community of skaters that I have met and pushing myself more than I ever have! It makes me feel a lot of emotions at one. I feel confident, frustrated, and free!
What three words would you use to describe your skate style?
Modified, slow, and fun!
Do you have any top tips for anyone that is thinking about buying their first pair of roller skates?
Yes! I suggest making sure your skate is a perfect fit, and have fun! Don’t stress out! It tends to ruin the skate experience!
This collection is all inspired by the human body and plays homage to the body in all its shapes and sizes. Do you have any body positivity messages you stand by?
Yes. Don’t be afraid to get out there and be yourself. Dress how you want, do any activity you want, and be proud of yourself for putting yourself out there. It’s a big step!
