Eye Candy by Kastor & Pollux
As girl gangs go they don't come much cooler. Riding the Toronto wave, meet Dani & Bianca, two young creatives fresh from the 6 who founded creative collective Kastor & Pollux (or #KPSQUAD if you wanna get real familiar). Besides being known for their surreal videos and creative eye, the blogging duo know how to style some serious eye candy. Guess what, Autumn ain't so gloomy...because pastel. So what is Kastor & Pollux in your own words? D: Probably just an elaborate excuse for us to work together...jokes. I guess first-and-foremost a brand, but also offering the capabilities of a creative agency, with an added blog led by Bianca and I. K&P does it all - selfies, puns, and Justin Bieber playlist included. These days theres 7 of us to bring our visions to fruition, with more talented girls we can make moves into the realm of photography, videography, art direction and beyond ! How did it all begin? D & B: We started working together aged 16, just because we wanted to make something fun. Combining everything we knew about fashion, graphic design and web development we published a website selling reworked vintage clothing, although that project has since been put to bed it helped us grow up and launch Kastor & Pollux. Being young, impressionable and internet-obsessed during the rise of things like personal style documentation and image sharing (shout out to Tumblr!) really pushed us forward. So I guess what we're trying to say is everything happened organically through friendship and thousands of hours on our laptops! When did you meet? D & B: We actually met online â super fitting. You know the site Last.fm , it essentially logs all your iTunes activity and then suggests who you should be friends with based on your favourite musicians. Bianca posted a "hey you!!!" to my wall and we went on for hours. We'd just talk about McDonalds, how much we hate when our shoes get stuck in mud, and thrift shopping. Eventually, URL became IRL, and we've been inseperable since. What else can we find you creative geniuses getting upto? D & B: Being generally obnoxious, brunching, loitering at a local coffee shop, or chilling at home watching Gossip Girl on Netflix. We have a few side projects in the works, but can't give too much away, one of them involves drawing boys with nice faces. Current style crush? D & B: Right now definitely Miley Cyrus. We went to her concert and cried, The Happy Hippie Foundation gets us so inspired. We're counting down the days 'till the MTV Video Music Awards. You have a cult following of fashion followers, how would you describe your taste? D & B: Over the years our style has gone through a million and one transformations, but generally weâre drawn to really basic silhouettes with unexpected, eclectic twists. Colour is a huge part of it too, although we love a good dose of moody grey. How do you guys differ as individuals? B: Weâre super different in every way but mesh so well. I'm a protypical Pisces, raised by a seamstress mother, so my interests will forever lie in sitting behind a sewing machine and whipping up the clothing I dream in my head. Dani, on the other hand, went to Graphic Design school, she's behind all the weird visuals and insanely good at strategizing. Yeah Dani's the brains and I guess that makes me the balls!? Why is working as two better than one? D: Itâs so rewarding, getting to share and celebrate your successes together, we also live together. Cool story...the other day Bianca âaccidentallyâ crashed my date. We joked to the guy that we do everything together and he looked kind of scared â but after she left I explained weâre pretty much just obsessed with each other. Two is better than one in most ways, but dating is not one of them. Favourite piece from our shoot today? D & B: The cloud bucket hat! We really want two so we can stunt around together - is that excessive? IDK, maybe we'll block off dates in a Google calendar or something. --------------------------------------- Peep more eye candy by Kastor & Pollux online or over on Instagram.
