Happy Valentine's Day: The Winners!
Last week we decided we wanted to get everyone in the mood for loving in time for today, February 14th, so we set you the challenge to design a Valentine's Day Card for that special someone in your life. Your submissions came flooding in and after much deliberation, we have finally picked our winner and runners up based on their originality, wit and great design. WINNER: ALEKSANDRA NIEPSUJ "All the love goes to my buoyant, barking in the dark, ex-roommate, who stays secretly missed."
Aleksandra has totally gone against the conventional Valentine's card with this design which was right up our street. We love her use of visual contrast mixing this dark illustration with the candy pink background and her witty caption definitely made us laugh.
It was her unique drawing style that really won our hearts and we'd recommend you check out her blog aleksandraniepsuj.blogspot.com to see more where this came from.
Aleksandra is the winner of a £50 Lazy Oaf voucher to spend online.
RUNNER UP: JULIA FARKAS
"I'm sending this card to my Panda with love!"
We were instantly drawn to the bright colours and attention to detail of Julia's entry. We like to think of it as a kind of modern day, slightly obscure Lady and the Tramp (anyone remember the spaghetti scene?)
RUNNER UP: LAURA CALLAGHAN
"This card is for all my fellow singletons to remind them of the heinously awkward social interactions they'll be avoiding at this time of year-feel smug my friends."
Anyone going on a first date tonight should have a proper look at Laura's card, it is very true, and also hilarious. We've all met a Cliff Fibster in our time. Have a look at more of her illustrations at www.lauralaurapicturedrawer.blogspot.com. Both Laura and Julia win a £25 Lazy Oaf voucher to spend online. May we send all of our love to everyone who entered, you made our little hearts melt and you've certainly done St. Valentine proud. So whether you've got a romantic date with a lover or one with your remote control this evening, we'd like to wish you a happy val day, you deserve it.
