Little Sunny Bite Comes To London - Interview with Yoppy ♡

Tokyo based womenswear label Little Sunny Bite is hard not to smile at. The ultra cute kawaii label has been making waves in the Shibuya fashion scene in the past year and once you've met the infectiously happy creative director Yoppy it's not hard to see why. Having already worked on collections with the likes of UK based photographer Valerie Phillips and illustrator Hattie Stewart, Yoppy has managed to develop a fast growing fan base in her home town of Tokyo as well as LA, New York and London. With her AW14 collection debuting in Europe for the first time at our Tokyko Takeover Pop Up Space we grabbed some time with Yoppy to find out more... Tell us a bit about Little Sunny Bite… I started Little Sunny Bite in July 2013.  I'm selling to select stores in Japan, Taiwan , Hong Kong and Dubai. I have also done a small pop up store in LA last summer and one in Laforet, Harajuku one month ago which was so successful : ) I have web store too. What kind of girl does Little Sunny Bite design for? My customers are between 18 and 30 years old. Little Sunny Bite is for anyone who likes fashion and want to be cute.  Japanese people are used to being really conservative but I want girls to enjoy fashion more!!! The origin of brand name is that Little Sunny is an actual girl and then bite literally refers to something biting,  like a baby biting into anything they are interested in. My motto is to just wear whatever you want. Take a bite out of Little Sunny Bite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We love all the fur and quilting in your AW'14 collection, what inspired the range? The theme for my second collection was ''a girl that you always want by your side''. I chose fur because it's really comfortable and makes everyone want to touch : ) fur can also make really girly shapes. I guess the biggest reason was because I want to wear a fur item every winter. I used heart shaped quilting because I have always loved hearts and I know girls like hearts! They make everyone says KAWAII at the first sight. : ))))) Hattie Stewart designed some prints for the collection, how did that collaboration come about? I was big fan of her. I saw some magazine covers she did and thought they were just amazing. I found her on Facebook and we had some common friends so I sent her a message on Facebook when I started Little Sunny Bite and asked her to doodle for me. She accepted and gave me some amazing doodles ♡. I was so happy because nobody knew what reception Little Sunny Bite was going to get but she trusted me from the beginning. Why did you want to come to London and do a pop-up shop with Lazy Oaf? I don't do overseas shipping from my website at the moment but I get messages from the UK to my website and Facebook so I knew that I wanted to try pop up store someday. I have been loving Lazy Oaf for a long time;  I think all the campaigns, collaborations, videos and lookbooks are just amazing!!!  It was an easy answer when you guys said let's do a Little Sunny Bite pop up shop at the Lazy Oaf Store. This will be your first visit to the city, do you have any expectations or anything you're looking forward to doing? Yes it's my first time and I am so excited about everything. I'm looking forward to seeing friends in London, seeing new views, taking photos, shopping etc but the most exciting thing is to see fashionable people at the event on 13th November! Thank you for giving me this opportunity ♡ What's the most kawaii thing you have seen this week? I went to Puffy 's performance; they are my muse.
