See You Next Tuesday: Dog Lookalikes, Bubba Gumps Shrimps and Harry Potter Cossies
Welcome to this weeks latest instalment of See You Next Tuesday where the Lazy Oaf team fill you in on the things that have caught our eye or got us talking in the office over the past 7 days. This week we have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Bubba Gumps Shrimps, wanting to wear Harry Potter and wishing to own the worlds largest pets. 1. INTERNET SENSATIONS: Pets R Us. With London's annual dog show Discover Dogs happening in November, this week the four-legged fanatics have invited their Facebook followers to share photos of dogs and owners that have an uncanny resemblance with the best entry winning tickets to the show. It seems to be a common trend that owners look like their dogs but why would this be? Are owners naturally drawn to hounds who share their features or do the dogs slowly morph into their owners? Or the other way round? If this is the case then we'd recommend future dog owners to pick a breed carefully else you could end up looking like this. Could be worse. 2. FOOD FAVOURITES: Life is Like a Box of Shrimp...Anyone growing up in the nineties is likely to have fond memories of watching Forrest Gump from his passion for ping pong to his romance with Jenny which has had us chanting run Forrest run in our heads every time we chase a bus (or is that just us?). But if there was one story that really won our hearts and made us sob into our popcorn, it had to be the friendship between Forrest and Bubba - the pair made the promise of opening up a fish restaurant Bubba Gumps Shrimps when Bubba came back from the war, but sadly he never returned...In memory of Bubba, this particular story line inspired the opening of a chain of restaurants in real life with 32 open worldwide and this week we found out that Bubba Gump Shrimp Co is coming to London's Piccadilly Circus! We don't know the exact date yet but we'll definitely be first in queue of fried shrimp and mommas box of chocolates. 3. WINDOW SHOPPING: Hogwarts School of Swimwear. Those kids at slinky Australian clothing label Black Milk really know what they're doing don't they? We still haven't gotten over the Jaws Swimsuit and now they tell us they've teamed up with our main man Harry Potter to design this magical swimming costume. We don't care that the British summer is nearly over, we're gonna be rocking this in the local leisure centre. Watch this space Clissold. 4. MEDIA MATTERS: Big is Beautiful. This weekend we got sucked into viewing a Channel 5 classic - Worlds Biggest Pets and my my did we make some excellent discoveries. Once we had gotten over a giant snake attacking its owner, we were totally wooed by the beauty that is the capybara, the largest member of the rodent family. We never even knew these animals existed let alone that people had them as pets. The star of the show was Caplin Rous from Texas who had a penchant for munching celery and dressing up in bandanas. He has sadly since passed away but his owner Melanie Typaldos has since adopted Garibaldi and continues to share her love for the breed on her blog gianthamster.com. While we are fond of the capybara, we think we're better off sticking to its smaller, more domesticated ancestors for now.
