See You Next Tuesday: Hairspiration, Brunch Clubs and Getting a Pet.
Itâs time for See You Next Tuesday, a weekly round up of the things that have caught our eye or got us talking in the studio this week. Still in the mood for reinvention, this week we're being taught to tell the time by puppets, making hairstyle mood boards and finding happiness through pets. 1. INTERNET SENSATIONS: Becky and Joe Show. We first discovered the works of artistic duo Becky and Joe when we went to check out their 'Don't hug me I'm scared' exhibition at Old Shoreditch Station back in 2011 where they won us over by covering everything in googly eyes. Since then the pair have been going from strength to strength making animated videos for bands like Tame Impala and Unknown Mortal Orchestra and building window displays for Selfridges. This January they're back with Don't hug me I'm scared II: Time, a collaboration with Channel 4 and Dazed Digital that sees a stringy, Cousin It-style man, fluffy duck and bog eyed boy teaching us about time in an unexpected way. We can't wait to see what they come up with next. 2. WINDOW SHOPPING: That's a pretty nice haircut. It's reinvention season and that doesn't just mean detox diets and gym memberships, this month we have been window shopping for a new hair style because nothing makes you feel fresher than a brand new hair do, plus it requires far less effort than a treadmill. This weeks hairspiration for the girls in the office comes from French electro pop artist Owlle who's wowed us with her gradient red locks and extra blunt fringe. Her debut LP is also available to stream over at Nylon Magazine now. 3. FOOD FAVOURITES: Brunch is the new lunch. If you're finding it difficult to get out of bed before 12pm at the weekend then we'd recommend jumping on the brunch bandwagon because, if the promise of poached eggs and crispy bacon doesn't motivate you to get up then we don't know what will! Our favourite Sunday brunch hangout is London's restaurant chain Breakfast Club, in particular their Artillery Lane branch located just behind Liverpool Street Station. We'd recommend the Huevos Al Benny dish offering their own take on the classic Eggs Benedict complete with chorizo, avocado, chillies and that all important side of home fries. Also look out for the offensive graffiti on the My Little Pony wallpaper in the girls toilet. 4. MEDIA MATTERS: Pets corner. If you're considering getting your first pet in 2014 then the latest statistics released by pethealthinfo.org.uk might help you make your mind up. In a recent survey a whopping 90% of Brits said that owing a pet makes them feel happy with 21% feeling happiest when they are with their pets. One in ten men surveyed also said that owning a pet makes them more attractive to potential partners - that's good to know in time for Valentines Day eh boys? And for those of you who are serious about getting a dog, we'd recommend looking at the latest residents at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, we've recently fallen in love with new recruit Leo the Shar Pei pictured above.
